Stewardship

C ropLife Asia is committed to promoting effective stewardship in both crop protection and plant biotechnology. We believe that appropriate management and use of our products help underpin sustainable agriculture and safeguard the environment and public health.

Farmers as stewards of the land and crops, must be equipped with the right tools and technologies to grow safe food sustainably and productively. The plant science industry must also be at the forefront of research and development, farmer training, and outreach initiatives that put farmers at the heart of policy making.

CropLife Asia’s tailored Stewardship solutions are helping farmers grow more abundant supplies of healthy, affordable food, while making them more involved in the efforts to safeguard our natural resources. Stewardship ensures that ethical standards are observed in managing crop protection products from their discovery and development, to their use and final disposal or phase-out. Its overall aim is to maximize the benefits and minimize risks from using crop protection products. CropLife Asia, together with CropLife International and its member companies fully support the International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management and Plant Biotechnology Code of Conduct.

Stewardship promotes good agricultural practices such as Integrated Pest Management , Resistance Management, Responsible Use and Container Management.

CropLife Asia is also supporting CropLife International with the Sustainable Pesticide Management Framework (SPMF) Program in the region.

The Stewardship Leadership Team also supports government departments within agricultural ministries and CropLife Asia’s Member Associations to expand critical Stewardship education throughout farming communities.

CropLife Asia is a proud member of Excellence Through Stewardship (ETS). ETS is an international non-profit organization that supports the responsible management of agricultural technology and aims to distribute its stewardship and quality management systems and processes to all members of the agricultural value chain. These systems and processes were developed by industry experts to work with the company’s existing procedures and programs and are relevant over the entire product life cycle. Once a member joins our association, it will have access to all of ETS’s resources including experts, guides, trainings, presentations and more to help implement the stewardship programs. After a period of implementation, the new member is evaluated by a third-party independent auditor to assess whether it's implemented ETS's acceptable quality systems and processes.
